With Hard Water Sports you’ll gain the knowledge to safely set toprope anchors, you’ll learn to top belay, we’ll instruct you on how to rappel with a back up. Your Minnesota climbing anchors class covers the essentials for getting on real rock.

Gain the knowledge to build safe and efficient top-rope anchors / top belay anchors.
- Understanding safe gear protection
- Techniques for equalization
- Using natural anchors
- Essential knots and hitches for anchoring
The Anchors Climbing Course covers:
- top-rope anchor systems,
- top-belaying anchors, (belay from the top)
- rappelling with a safety back-up
you will learn some aid climbing techniques and the use of ascenders.
In the Minnesota Rock Climbing Anchors Class you will learn:
– clean gear placement using wired nuts, tricams, hexes, active camming devices.
-use of natural anchors; trees, boulders, chalk stones and pinch points.

Hard Water Sports offers rock climbing classes in Sandstone, Minnesota – we’re just an hour north of the Minneapolis – St. Paul metro. For the Minnesota Rock Climbing Anchors Class we meet in Robinson Park.
